Very good radio fir a very good price
This is a very good kitchen radio indeed, very high quality for the price, weighty and substantial with a decent quality speaker that has a 1w RMS rating. This means that it can go reasonably loud without any distortion, and because it is a good speaker in itself the sound quality is very good indeed, not tinny, but with a nice intermediate tone which is otherwise nonadjustable. Unlike a lot of radios, or any equipment today, this hasn't suffered a cost-cutting exercise of not including a mains lead, and as this was to be the only power supply method that this radio was to utilize it was a necessity to have one supplied. It is also a standard lead with the figure-of-eifght connector, not one of those dumb ones that have a built in transformer. It's extremely simple to operate. There's a three-position switch above the very large and clear frequency window, the positions of which show a day-glo orange marker next to or under the function that represents its position. Put the switch all the way to the left and the radio is OFF. One click to the right it is on FM, and all the way right AM. Tuning is done with the obvious knob on the side, it is not jerky, it is smooth and stiff enougfh to be able to tune accurately, so it's extremely easy to tune, it also has a red LED that tells one when it has reached the maximum quality (signal strength) of tuning for any channel. This radio successfully picked up BBC Radio Wales, which is something that I was barely able to do with my old one - ever, and it picked it up with a strong enough signal to light that LED, This means that the aerial and the components inside are very good too. Volume is controlled by a knurled wheel on the side and it also had a headphone jack.

Their battery life is said to be amazing but this ain't bad at about 36 hrs
Cracking Little Radio. I only wanted a basic semi-portable radio that I could take out the garden, out front whist doing the car, use in the bathroom and during power cuts, etc., and otherwise on mains. This fits the bill admirably. Nearly all the so called truly portables are tiny, more or less pocket size things with small speakers and next to no volume, fiddly little switches, and ONLY battery operated, including the Sony ones. Their battery life is said to be amazing but this ain't bad at about 36 hrs. Perfectly adequate for me as I use rechargeable ones and intend mostly mains use. The speaker is a good size with adequate sound and volume for this class of equipment and, at approx. 20 Wide x 12 High x 6 Deep (cms.) excluding handle and knobs sticking out, it actually feels and looks like a conventional radio. Build quality is good and it will even pick up some common FM stations without the aerial extended; well in my area anyway. So, if you want a good quality, portable radio that has good performance, is easy to use and can easily be powered from mains or battery then look no further. At ยฃ24.15 and free delivery you can't go wrong.

Good kitchen /bathroom radio.
Does the job it's designed for well. Picks up regular AM and FM stations easily and stays locked on. It has a good clear sound and plenty of volume. Not for DXing, it's not especially sensitive, just adequate. Batteries last fairly well. In short it does what it says on the tin. EDIT. For those of you who do like to 'DX', attaching about 15 inches of wire to the antenna transforms FM, pulling in loads of stations from neighbouring counties.

Quality built unit battery and mains.
Top quality radio that feels well built and sturdy. Runs on 4 AA batteries or the supplied mains lead. I nought the so called used as good as new... It was new and a bargain.

Panasonic 2400DEB-K - Basic but functional - A good buy - Battery and Mains powered
While it loses out to DAB in terms of the stations available it has a decent battery life from 4 AA batteries. Battery life is given as around 50 hours but I have not been using this long enough to confirm. The DAB radio I have eats 4 AAs in a matter of 3 to 4 hours. The Panasonic uses a standard mains lead which is much cheaper and easier to replace than a dedicated low voltage power supply should it be lost or damaged. The reception on both FM and AM is better than my DAB radio, (that was not cheap). It has a ear piece socket that appears to be mono only. There is no Bluetooth, USB input pre-sets or station identification (RDS). It has a sturdy carry handle that can be used as a stand. It has a good size speaker which provides reasonable sound quality. A tuning light shows when you have a good station lock. This radio is a modern equivalent of a 1940s valve radio but with up to date circuitry. Unlike TV the benefits of a digital radio system are not overwhelming. Hopefully the UK government will continue with analogue radio transmission. If your a prepper this could be a good choice for receiving emergency broadcasts. The proposed 2023 UK emergency alerts system relies on the mobile phone network. Which is fine as long as its still working in your area. And assuming it ever gets completed.

Excellent quality from Panasonic!
I bought my first Panasonic radio over 60 years ago and have not bothered with owning a radio for about 40 years. I purchased this Panasonic after watching a comparison on Youtube between this model and another Panasonic which was nearly twice the price, this was the pick of the two. When I went to unpack the parcel I was surprised at the weight, I assumed that the batteries must be included not so the weight is in the speaker which told me that this is going to be a good sound and so it was/is, really deep sound from such a small radio. The speaker is approx half the size of the unit. I also like the fact that when the tuner is spot on the station a Red light lights up. I am really pleased with this little radio would recommend it to anyone.

I have checked 3-4 radios before this radio but no one had shown a satisfactory performance. I always wished to present my mother a good radio. Here ends my search. The sound quality of the radio is very clear and loud. The FM reception is crystal clear and AM reception is also satisfactory. The design and build of the radio is much appealing. It works on both cells and power supply. My mother uses it wherever she wants by plugging its cord into the electricity mains. Altogether a relaxing experience after buying 4th radio. No more searching for radios on Amazon now. We are happy.

The Panasonic RF-2400 has always intrigued me. As you can tell by my user name, I love radios. All types! I've owned Sonys, Grundigs, Bose, Sangeans, you name it, I've owned it at one time or another. A few weeks ago I ordered this wonderful radio. From the minute I turned it on, I was very impressed. First, the sound.... Unbelievable. If you've ever owned a GE Superradio and heard the sound from it, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. A clear, crisp sound emits from the 3.5" speaker. Control knobs are simple. Tuning is acurate. What more could you ask for in a radio. It would make a perfect gift for anyone. Especially if they listen to much radio at all. Another great product from Panasonic!
