They are made out of wood and painted to look like train cars and engines. They have magnets on both ends so that they can be connected to each other. They will fit on his wooden track and also work with his other little train. They say in the ad that they will work with Thomas and Chuggington trains. The three trains come in a wooden collectors case that is also very nice. The price is not bad for the 12 pieces and they are of good quality. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. Review: Recomended - โโโโโWORKS WELL ON BRIO TRACKโโโโโ I have been using Brio trains since I was 3 years old. Now I've got my own kids using and loving them. These trains fit my 35 year old Brio tracks as well as they fit brand knew off brand Brio track. On this set all 12 cars came without flaws. I saw some of the other reviews about the cars being broken or defective out of the box. I did not experience that. The magnets are strong and I can pull all 12 cars without the magnets coming apart. The wheels roll cleanly, none of them are stuck or seized or anything. The box they come in is nice for storage, but there is no lid on it. So it has to be laid flat or everything will just fall out of it. The quality is a little lower than a Brio brand train. But not much. And not even close to enough that a 5 year old will notice. All in all, I highly recommend these.

Broken upon opening
I bought these for my son's 3rd birthday. He has a lot of wooden train engines but not many cars. He loves them. However, when opening the package I noticed that the roof on one of the cars has already come off. In addition, the metal part from two of the wheels came loose and fell off within moments of him using it. The metal wheel cover is very small and a choking hazard for littler children. I think I will stick with the pricier but more durable brands from now on for wooden trains.

Great bang for your buck
Great trains for the price. My son lost most of the trains in his Imaginarium train sets so grandma got him these for Christmas and they fit the tracks perfectly. Good variety, a few have removable tops or a tippy bucket. Fits the bill. My only gripe is that the magnets are a little weak. Otherwise, great product.

This set is amazing! The price can't be beat
This set is amazing! The price can't be beat, but the trains can! My son is is really rough on his toys and these trains have withstood him for about a year so far. Some paint is chipped and there's some dents but I see that with the expensive trains as well. The trains are all intact though. Wheels are secure. This was hands down the best toy I ever spent money on. This keeps my son busy and he has so much fun. He almost always has a train in each hand all day no matter where he goes. He has even fallen asleep with these in his hands. He loves them! Worth every penny!

Poor quality.
At $1.67 a train car this would seem like a great deal - and my 2 year old squealed when he saw the kit online saying that is what he wanted to spend his $20 birthday money on. Unfortunately these cars have very little quality control. I wasn't expecting them to be of the level of a Thomas or Brio train - but they are really sloppy. I've attached a couple of photos showing the excess glue and sloppy uneven pieces. While we only just received them, I've no doubt that the other reviews stating they won't last long is true. If they have these issues out of the box, I expect it to only get worse.

Won't stay together!
The idea is very cool, the trains are cute and all, but those magnets.. if you drive the train over absolutely flat floor, then you are good to go, but should there be any carpet or any other obstacle to go over, forget it- it will split up, my two and a half year old gets frustrated because of how many times a MINUTE he has to put it back together. I am going to buy strong magnets to see if that will fix the problem. No, I would not recommend this product to family and friends. Shipping was fast though! It came with ripped plastic, but we didn't care about that.

Adorable, versatile toys for learning and play!
These are adorable little trains, perfectly sized for toddler hands. They're bright, fun colors that young children love. They fit perfectly on wooden train sets but are also fun for counting, rolling on the floor, playing with on long car rides and rolling on a table top while waiting for an order to arrive at a restaurant. These trains are versatile, fit in a purse, pocket or toy bin for easy storage or to take on the go. They can be used for everything from play to education. I highly recommend them to all parents and guardians of kids. For homeschool purposes, you could even paint numbers or letters on them to use in learning exercises. The possibilities are endless!
